Turkey Onion Burgers

Once the winter has faded away, the missus and I devote our Sundays to new and interesting burger recipes. In doing so, we tend to run out of beef burger variation and have to move on to more modern and non-traditional varieties.

Turkey burgers, if done right, can be just as flavorful and amazing as their beef counterparts

  • 20 oz. ground turkey
  • 1 oz dry onion soup mix
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Kosher salt and ground pepper
  • 4 wheat buns
  • Butter
  • 4 slices Havarti cheese (or provolone)
  • Mayonnaise
  • 1 avocado

Preheat outdoor grill.

In a large bowl, mix together ground turkey, soup mix, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Form mixture into 4 thinnish patties. Cut buns in half and spread with butter. Place buns on grill butter side down. Grill until browned. Remove and set aside. Grill burgers until cooked through, turning every 3-4 minutes. Before they are done, place a slice of cheese atop each one. Continue grilling until cheese is melted fully. Remove from grill and allow to rest.

Cut avocado in half, spoon out flesh and slice thin. Spread a thin layer of mayonnaise on the bottom half of each bun. Portion buns out to four plates. Top each bun with burger and each burger with avocado slices.

Makes 4 burgers. Enjoy!
